AmaZulu is one of the clubs with a squad of quality players in all the departments this season. The team’s goalkeeping department, in particular, has two of the most talented goalkeepers in the league in Tapuwa Kapini and Aubrey Mathibe, with Philani Zikalala seemingly occupying the third position in the pecking order.
In a situation like that, some clubs prefer to rotate players depending on current form. Soccer-Laduma takes a look at how the AmaZulu goalkeepers have done so far this season.
Kapini has played three games so far, against Ajax Cape Town, Moroka Swallows and Wits respectively. The Zimbabwean has conceded two goals and kept a clean sheet in one game.
Usuthu have won two games and drawn one with Kapini in goals. Mathibe on the other hand, has played two games so far, against Orlando Pirates and Mpumalanga Black Aces respectively.
The Free State-born player has conceded two goals and kept a clean sheet in one game. The KZN side won one and lost one of the two games with the former Moroka Swallows goalkeeper between the sticks.
AmaZulu are third on the PSL table with 10 points after five games. It will be interesting to see how Craig Rosslee and his technical team select their goalkeepers as the season progresses.
