AmaZulu have extended the deal of Philani Zikalala by a further two years. Zikalala has been an understudy to AmaZulu’s number one goalkeeper and captain, Tapuwa Kapini, during his time with the club.
The club has decided to secure the player’s future, following the departure of Mbongeni Mzimela at the end of last season. Zikalala did fairly well when he was given game time under Roger Palmgren in the absence of Kapini during the first round of last season.
Usuthu recently signed Aubrey Mathibe after he didn’t renew his contract with Moroka Swallows. The KZN outfit is expected to have Mandla Sangweni back with the first team next season.
Sangweni, who is the brother of Orlando Pirates defender Siyabonga and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Thamsanqa, spent the second half of last season on loan at Durban Warriors.
AmaZulu coach Craig Rosslee wants to have all his players available to select a strong starting eleven for games in the new season.
