Coach On Bucs Draw: We Did Not Play Like AmaZulu Can Play

AmaZulu coach Cavin Johnson was not impressed with his team’s performance in their game against Orlando Pirates.

Usuthu returned to KwaZulu-Natal with one point after their trip to Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening, when they played to a 1-1 draw with Bucs in their Absa Premiership game.

“We did not play like AmaZulu can play. I thought in the first half we were okay. We got the goal. I thought we could have scored the second goal. It could have eased our nerves. But one mistake from us and they managed to score.

“We know what type of a team Pirates are. They are a running team and they always fight back especially at Orlando Stadium. They always give you a hard time. In the second half, we were not in the game. We were lucky not to concede. I thought our goalkeeper being part of the eleven players – did his job. He saved our bacon.

“We came to the Orlando Stadium with a point and we go back home with one point. We are happy. It’s always difficult that’s why,” said Johnson as quoted on AmaZulu’ official website.

In their next PSL assignment, Usuthu will travel to Cape Town Stadium and meet Cape Town City on Friday.

Johnson was lucky first his boys didn't score even any goal to pirates only Nyauza who score his brace to help Usuthu gain one point instead of helping pirates to win the game I think he learned his poor services at the back

I'm not pressing panic buttons right now. The guys will be ok, Micho and Rhulani are compatible coaches. The guys need to relax and the goals will come. It's just that they are trying too hard right now. That's what happens when a guy tries too hard to impress his girl, I always say 'relax baby it's ok'. :))

Mamelodi Sundowns have an opportunity to consolidate their place at the top of the log when they meet Maritzburg United at Loftus Versfeld on Tuesday night. A win for the Pretoria side will be their eighth of the season in 12 games and see them stretch their lead over second-placed Orlando Pirates to five points. This will further stamp their status as title favourites as they have by far looked the most convincing side in the league. Form guide Following a stuttering start to the campaign, they have finally found consistency, winning four of their last five outings with a goalless draw away to Chippa United the only blemish in an otherwise flawless run. This owes as much to their solid defence as it does to attack as they have only conceded one goal in the process – one which came from the boot of Orlando Pirates’ defender Marc Van Heerden, courtesy of a pinpoint long-range free kick. Their opponents can also be considered a team in form as they have won their two most recent games, netting seven times in the process. They overcame a dark period which saw them not scoring a single goal in their four matches prior in emphatic style when they put on an impressive second half display last Tuesday, bating Cape Town City 4-2 after going into the break trailing 1-0. They currently sit in eighth place but a win in Pretoria will shoot them up into the top three. Head to head Both of last season’s encounters between these two sides could not produce a winner as the ended in draws. Prior to that, Sundowns boasted an impressive run of four unanswered victories against their opponents, with three coming away from home. You have to go back more than five years back to September 2012 for the last time Maritzburg beat Sundowns in a league clash.

Cowditor, rumours are that Chiefs refused to pay incentives to players after winning Macufe toy, and the bonuses were promised for beating helpless and weak Platinum stars. Please dig deep from Bobby...

These coaches are saying such things to deceive their employers. Johnson is a clueless coach. Those cups he won with Dikwena were won by Ngele,Ngambi,Cowthembu and Botes. I saw him(Johnson) at SSU and at Dikwena on his return that he's on the same level with Komphela, Kgoloko,Benni,Meyiwa and Molekwa.

@the great khosiological Good day cow. I was reading Pep Komphela saying that the fluke win against Dikwena was Chiefs' family's christmas gift. Does that mean a win against weak Ajax won't be important?

@Vamza, that is a lame excuse. A team of Bucs' calibre should be winning games at Orlando Stadium without excuses.

Cavin Johnson and Steve Komphela are there at their respective teams for one reason, which is "SALARIES". The two knows very well that with the quantity they have in their teams, only keeping PSL status is possible.
