Chippa United have turned down an offer from AmaZulu for the services of veteran striker Petrus Ngebo, with Usuthu looking to bolster their striking department with an experienced campaigner.
The Cape-based side refused to release the former Free State Stars player, making their intentions clear for the second half of the season.
AmaZulu were hoping to land Ngebo on a loan deal until the end of the season, as they look to claw their way up the Absa Premiership log and salvage their PSL status.
Sources close to the Craig Rosslee-coached side reveal that the team had also tried to lure Nathan Paulse from SuperSport United, however in vain.
AmaZulu are now expected to sign former Orlando Pirates striker Makhosonke Bhengu if the technical team is impressed with his showing at training.
The 29-year-old is on the lookout for a club in the PSL after spending the past three years plying his trade in Hong Kong.
