The latest news reaching the Siya crew is that AmaZulu have handed Luyanda Hlongwa a trial. The 25-year-old is currently on Free State Stars’ books, having joined the side at the start of the season.
Usuthu are looking to strengthen the right-back position after the club parted ways with Mxolisi Mayongo at the end of last year, and reliable sources in the know confirmed that the former Bloemfontein Celtic player is training with the team in an attempt to impress coach Craig Rosslee.
Hlongwa has made just one start for Ea Lla Koto, in the MTN8, since joining the side. The Durban-born player is now looking to return home and gain some regular game time.
He could be Usuthu’s second signing of 2013, after the club sealed a deal with former Orlando Pirates midfielder Njabulo Manqana.
AmaZulu’s defence was evidently depleted throughout the opening 16 games of the season. The unavailability of DR Congo defender Belux Kasonga, due to paperwork issues, worsened the situation.
