Banyana Banyana players Amanda Sister and Disebo Mametja have been handed an opportunity to further their careers overseas, after signing contracts in Hungary.
The two players are on their way to Gyori ETO FC in Hungary.
The players’ representative, Tshepo Makananise, told the Siya crew that the two players were excluded from Vera Pauw’s Banyana side for the 2015 All Africa Games in the Republic of the Congo because they have been preparing for their departure to their new club.
“The players left today in the morning. It’s two-year contracts and they are going to play in Hungary. The name of the Club is Gyori ETO FC. Amanda Sister is going to be the highest earner in the team. We know that women’s football is something else and having to go to that country to earn the kind of money they will be earning is a bonus for them, considering that the team will be paying for their residence, meals and traveling.
“The aim is for them to go there and make a name for themselves so that they can get better offers from better countries around Europe. As their representative I do this because of the love I have for women’s football.
“I get nothing in return as I am looking to expanding my non-profit organisation company to a greater level so that I can help as many more players to go abroad. They couldn’t be part of Banyana Banyana as they were preparing to be with their new team,” said Makananise.
