Amajita Striker Relishes Second Bite At Mozambique
Amajita Striker Tashreeq Matthews ready for CAF U20 qualifier against Mozambique
Amajita striker Tashreeq Matthews’ goal in the first leg of the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier earned the South Africans a vital away goal heading into the second leg scheduled for this coming Saturday.
The South Africans played to a 1-1 draw against Mozambique at the Campo de Ferroviaro da Beira in Beira City with Matthews registering his name on the scoresheet. The Ajax Cape Town player told Soccer Laduma that the goal would go a long way in easing the pressure on the team heading into the second leg.
“It’s good that we were able to get on the scoresheet and score an away goal. This will make it easier for us to control the second leg game,” said Matthews.
“We know that the game won’t be easy because the away goal means that they will push forward to at every opportunity. We are ready for that because we saw some weaknesses in their team that we plan on taking advantage of.
“The coach has done a good job with the team, as for most of us it was our first time playing together so we did well. In the second leg, we will have the home ground advantage so I believe we will do better,” added the striker.
Amajita who returned on Sunday will leave later today for Rustenburg to begin their preparations for the second leg clash which will be played at the Moruleng Stadium on Saturday 20 May 2018.
