Foster: A Striker Always Needs To Score
Amajita Striker Lyle Foster targets more goals in National colors
Orlando Pirates and Amajita striker Lyle Foster has reacted after netting a brace against Mozambique in the CAF U20 AFCON qualifier played at the Moruleng Stadium this past Saturday.
Amajita emerged as 3-0 victors against Mozambique in the second leg qualifier after both teams played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg played at the Campo de Ferroviaro da Beira in Beira City.
The win means Amajita progress to the next round of qualifiers where they will take on Malawi over two legs in July.
“As a striker, you always need to score goals because the team looks to you to get the goals needed,” said the 17-year-old.
“After not scoring in the first match I was relieved to score twice in the second match. It was a team effort and I was just fortunate to be at the end of both the opportunities we created. The conditions worked in our favour so we knew that playing at home we would have the edge despite the shaky start to the game,” added Foster.
The Bucs man further noted that their qualifiers against Malawi scheduled for July would mean the players would have to be disciplined as it will be played in the off-season.
“We would need to be professional and keep in shape. The professionalism in the team is high, so no doubt we will be in shape when we take on Malawi,” he added.
The Amajita players will be given a short reprieve before assembling for camp ahead of their qualifier against Malawi.
