Amajimbos Miss Out On COSAFA Cup Final

By Soccer Laduma - Jul 28, 2017 05:22 PM
Amajimbos failed to qualify for the COSAFA U17 championship final, after they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Mauritius in the semi-finals on Friday afternoon.
Molefi Ntseki's charges secured their spot in the last four after finishing top of Group B earlier in the week.
Both sides had chances at goal inside the opening 30 minutes, but they were let down by the finishing in the respective 18-yard areas.
It was the hosts who broke the deadlock on the stroke of halftime thanks to a strike from Louis Mitriaille.
Amajimbos pushed for an equaliser but they were unable to carve out clear-cut chances.
Mauritius then doubled their lead on the hour mark as  Mitriaille completed his brace on the day, 2-0.
Nsteki continued to look for  a way back into the clash but they were unable to bypass the Maurtiun defence, as the tournament hosts held on for the win.
The South Africans will now face Malawi in the third/fourth play-off on Sunday, 30 July.
