Amajimbos head coach, Molefi Ntseki, revealed they planned to arrive a week earlier to get used to the heat in Niger.
The national U17 side arrived in Niamey, Niger Sunday afternoon for the 2015 African Youth Championships, which is set to get underway on 15 February 2015.
Amajimbos were pitted against Mali, Cameroon and Cote d'Ivoire in Group B and Ntseki's charges were greeted by some hot weather in Niamey.
“We knew that it would be blazing hot here that is why we decided to travel almost a week ahead of the tournament to acclimatize,” Ntseki said in a statement released by SAFA.
“During the qualifiers, we did experience this type of hot weather. We did play in some really scorching countries like Tanzania and Egypt but this heat here takes some beating,”
Amajimbos will be also looking to secure one of four spots at the FIFA U17 World Cup which will be staged in Chile between 17 October – 8 November 2015.
