Word reaching Soccer-Laduma is that Safa Second Division side Cape Town All Stars have purchased the National First Division franchise of struggling NFD team Blackburn Rovers.
Despite the fact that officials from both outfits have denied that any deal has taken place, a source close to the deal confirmed the news.
“It’s definite, the sale went through yesterday,” he said. “I got the news to say that the deal was done. The team will still be based in East London but the new owner Lunga Ncwana is keeping All Stars as a feeder for the NFD.
“Only next season they’ll be looking to relocate to Cape Town. He wanted to buy Rovers last season but it didn’t happen.”
Stars official Thando Sodinga said he was unaware of any takeover, “I’ll be the first person to inform you if that deal happens. We are preparing for the Second Division.”
When Soccer-Laduma queried the sale with Rovers’ owner Dumisani Mcedani, he replied,” That’s not true.”
