Result: Al Ahly 2-0 Orlando Pirates
Date: 10 November 2013
Venue: Arab Contractors Stadium
Al Ahly are African champions after beating Orlando Pirates 2-0 in the second-leg of the CAF Champions League Final at the Arab Contractors Stadium in Cairo.
Goals from legendary Mohamed Abou-Treika in his last ever Champions League game, after announcing he will be retiring this season, and Ahmed Abdel-Zaher gave the Egyptian champions the victory, their eighth in their history.
Pirates will rue the missed clear-cut chances in the game, but can feel proud to have reached the final, after losing in the preliminary rounds in last year's edition.
In the ninth minute Pirates had their first shot at goal as Daine Klate tried to score directly from a free kick but it went straight at Sherif Ekramy in the Al Ahly goal.
In the fifteenth minute Al Ahly had a chance from a corner, but Mohamed Nagruib headed wide.
In the 17th minute Abdallah El-Said almost reached a deep cross, but the ball was too long and he stretched to shoot into the side-netting.
In the 20th minute Tlou Segolela had a great chance to give Pirates the lead, but Ekramy was able to close him down and make the save.
In the 22nd minute Ahmed Abdel-Zaher tried a long range effort that forced Senzo Meyiwa to make a diving save to touch the ball over.
Oupa Manyisa tried a long range effort in the 29th minute but his shot went wide to the left.
Thabo Matlaba, last week's hero, tried a long range attempt in the 31st minute, but Ekramy saved at the near post.
In the 35th minute Klate sent a cross in from the right towards the far post, but Segolela's headed attempt was off target.
Just before half-time Abel Zaher tried to reach a Walid Soliman pass, but Meyiwa rushed out well to stop any attempt.
In the 48th minute Soliman tried a long range effort but his shot went wide.
Al Ahly went into a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute through Mohamed Abou-Treika, who finished from close range after getting a pass from El-Said.
In the 61st Klate had an attempt from long range but Ekramy saved.
Two minutes later Lennox Bacela had a golden chance to equalize as he rounded Ekramy, but his shot from a tight angle was too high and bounced off the crossbar and back into play
In the 66th minute Abdel-Zaher tried a shot from the edge of the area, but it went wide to the right.
Abdel Zaher made it 2-0 in the 78th minute as he found himself unmarked at the far post and made no mistake, after getting the ball via Ahmed Fathi's attempted shot.
In the 83rd minute Al Ahly were reduced to ten men as Sherif Abdel-Fadil was sent off for a foul on Daine Klate.
In the dying minutes El-Said forced another good save out of Meyiwa, and then substitute Emad Meteb, who replaced Abou-Treika had a tame shot at the South African goalkeeper.
