After Ajax Cape Town restated their desire to hold onto key players like Khama Billiat and Lebogang Manyama, the Siya crew have been informed that they’re still targeting Mamelodi Sundowns man Clayton Daniels.
The centre back has had a tough time at Chloorkop since joining Sundowns from the Urban Warriors some seasons ago and he recently informed the crew that he was ready for a new challenge.
It had been thought that Ajax were going to ask for Daniels plus cash in return for the services of Billiat, although they are now looking at the possibility of buying Daniels outright.
However, one stumbling block in the deal could be the transfer fee and potential wages for the player, with Sundowns expected to be asking around R3 million for the 28-year-old defender.
The club’s head coach Muhsin Ertugral recently saved the club from relegation and is now keen to bring in an experienced defender like Daniels to shore up his defence for next season.
