Result: Ajax CT 3-0 Arrows
Date: 18 May 2013
Venue: Athlone Stadium
Ajax Cape Town confirmed their top-flight status with a vital 3-0 win at home to Golden Arrows on Saturday.
The Urban Warriors came into the final day under real pressure and with Chippa United having won at the same time, it was essential that Ajax took all three points.
They achieved that goal thanks to a double from Mabhuti Kenyeza as well as a strike from Toriq Losper.
Ajax dominated the opening stages and were rewarded early on when Khama Billiat stormed down the flank before squaring the ball to Khenyeza who provided the finish.
Arrows tried to find a response but they couldn't find their finish touch when in promising positions.
Ajax tried to finish the half on a positive note with Khenyeza just missing out on a cross into the area before Billiat wasted a glorious chance soon after.
The game remained tense after the break with Arrows still able to find a way back but Losper would ease their nerves when he thumped home a volley to make it 2-0.
The goal allowed Ajax to relax on the ball and they wrapped up the spoils late on with Khenyez tucking away a cross from Lance Davids.
The victory ensured that Ajax remained in the Premier Soccer League even though Chippa United managed a 2-1 win away to AmaZulu at the same time.
