News reaching the Siya crew is that the Ajax Cape Town newly signed defender, Rivaldo Coetzee, is on trial in Amsterdam.
The player left last week to undergo a week’s trial at Ajax Amsterdam. The news comes after the player aims for a first team spot in the Muhsin Ertugral-led team ahead of the league's second round.
The Siya crew contacted the side’s Public Relations Officer, Thabiso ‘Shooz’ Mekuto, who confirmed the news, and said the coach is back from Turkey following his foster father’s passing.
“The boy is in Amsterdam as we speak and he will be there for a week after the Stuttgart game. At the moment there’s no confirmation whether he will stay or not. On the other hand, the coach is back from home, he landed yesterday and he’s joined the team in training. I cannot say how he will plan for our next game against Pirates, but the coach will first look at the players and take it from there.
“All the players have been sweating it out and those injured will be making their way back to the team, over all, the coach is the one who will select and finalise his preparations. By the end of the week, he will have an idea of what to do and which players will he use,” said Mekuto.
The Urban Warriors will hope that their friendlies against VFB Stuttgart, FC Zwolle and Milano United boosted them as they get their second round campaign underway next Monday, January 27.
