Ajax Cape Town Part Ways With Vezi

Word coming out of the Ikamva camp is that, Ajax Cape Town have parted ways with Ndumiso Vezi, who's contract with the Urban Warriors ran until June 2015.

The Durban-born forward was hit by a car last year and sustained injuries to his leg and arm. The player was reportedly getting back to training and eyeing a place in the team. However, the club have announced that he is no longer at Ikamva.

Speaking to the crew, club PRO, Thabiso ‘Shooz’ Mekuto, says nothing happened to force the player out of the club or an agreement to part ways with him.

“He’s parted ways with the club that’s 100% true, there’s nothing that happened. He agreed to move on and look for a home elsewhere. He was not at the level where he could play for us. He wasn’t going to play this season and our responsibility as a club was to help him with medical recovery. To ensure he recovers from the accident he got, we had to help him to ensure he competes one day. That was our duty as a club, we’ve looked after him from a medical point of view.

“He’s healed and we agreed after he asked us to let him go and find a new home. Remember when we gave him a contract, we wanted to make sure he fully recovers. He could’ve been out of football, with no income and we decided to give him a contract to see he recovers by taking him to rehab. We wanted to help him and when he recovers, he can get a team of his choice. He’s healed now and he wasn’t part of the plan to play for us, but we couldn’t release him then. He’s now at home, his dad is ill and then he has to take care of him. The priority for him is to be at home and then he can find a new club,” added Mekuto.
