News making its way to the Siya crew is that Ajax Cape Town has released their Latvian defender, Ritus Krjauklis.
Although the player was seeing game-time during Muhsin Ertugral’s tenure, he only started seven games, and was a substitute once having joined the Ikamva-based club at the beginning of this season.
The crew is informed that the player asked the club’s hierarchy to be released and attend to his wife who was giving birth.
Speaking to the crew, the Urban Warriors Chief Executive, Ari Efstathiou, revealed to the crew why and when the player was released.
“He asked the club to release him as he had to attend to his wife who was giving birth to their first child. He then requested to leave and we then released him in February. We had plans to use our development players and then we agreed to let him go,” said Efstathiou.
The player will be turning 28 on the 23rd of this month, and is now reported to be continuing with his football in his home country, Latvia.
