Ajax Cape Town’s youth squad finished off their annual Netherlands Tour yesterday, after beating Real Madrid 2-0 in their final tournament.
The young Urban Warriors fell short of securing silverware in their first tournament in the Netherlands, the Terborg Toernooi, after claiming a 2-0 win over Manchester United in the opening encounter, but suffering a 2-1 defeat to Atletico Mineiro in the final of the competition.
Ajax’s Leo Thethani was named player of the Terborg tournament after his stellar performances in the Urban Warriors colours.
The second campaign, the ICGT Tournament took place from June, 03 until June 05, where Head Coach Duncan Crowie’s side managed a third place finish in the competition and bragging rights over Los Blancos.
The squad will return to Mzansi today, June 06 and despite returning home without any silverware, the young Urban Warriors will bring back with them valuable lessons learnt and experiences after playing amongst youngsters from top European clubs.
