Ajax Identify Next Coetzee, Dolly?
Ajax Cape Town Identify Next Generation Of Stars After Academy Promotions
Ajax Cape Town have identified another two potential stars for the future who will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Rivaldo Coetzee and Keagan Dolly.
The Urban Warriors have produced some of South Africa's biggest talents over the years, with Rivaldo Coetzee the club's most recent high-profile defensive export after his multi-million rand switch to Mamelodi Sundowns last year.
Midfield playmaker Dolly also came up through the development ranks at Ikamva and into the first-team, while he too left for the Brazilians before ultimately making his way onto the European stage with French Ligue 1 outfit Montpellier.
Ajax Cape Town have now confirmed the promotions of centre-back Keenan Abrahams and midfielder Riyaaz Koopstadt from the Youth Academy to the Urban Warriors first-team, with a view to blooding in the next generation of superstar to emerge in the Mother City.
A statement on the official Ajax website read: ' Having joined the club’s youth structures in 2009 & 2011 respectively, Keenan and Riyaaz have risen through the ranks together and have this past season featured prominently for the club’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge and ABC Motsepe League teams.
Keenan is a centre-back my trade, while Riyaaz functions in midfield. The duo both hail from Cape Town with Keenan growing up in Grassy Park and Riyaaz in Bonteheuwel – home to both Grant Margeman and Mario Booysen.
Everyone at Ajax Cape Town would like to congratulate Keenan and Riyaaz and we are excited to watch them take the next step in their respective footballing careers.'
