Ajax Shed More Light On Coetzee’s Situation
Ajax Cape Town Have Shed More Light On Rivaldo Coetzee’s Situation
Ajax Cape Town revealed that Rivaldo Coetzee’s issues with the club does not relate to whether he wants to stay at Ikamva or not, but is based on the player’s personal concerns.
The club confirmed yesterday that Coetzee has returned to the club after going AWOL for three weeks since the team regrouped for pre-season training.
At the time, it was discovered by the Siya crew that the 20-year-old Bafana Bafana international wanted to force a move away from the Urban Warriors, with another source indicating that the player felt he was not earning a fair wage at the Mother City-based club.
Coetzee has since apologised to the club, his coach and teammates after he accepted a decision made by an internal disciplinary committee.
The Siya crew has since gotten in touch with the club’s Head of Communications, Thabiso ‘Shooz’ Mekuto, to enquire about whether or not Coetzee is part of the club’s plans for the new season.
“Rivaldo (Coetzee) is not in the same boat as Travis (Graham). Those are two different issues. Travis says he wants to move on, Rivaldo has personal issues, not football issues, personal issues relating to his contract and relating to his salary,” Mekuto told Soccer Laduma.
“Rivaldo is not saying “I don’t want to play for Ajax”, he is saying, “I deserve more”, Travis is saying, “I want to move on” so when you say you want to move on you’re saying that you don’t want to be part of the plans, but when you are saying that you want to earn more, you are just saying – I just need to be remunerated, it is nothing about football,”
“Rivaldo is training to get himself fit to be part of the team, Travis is coming to work because he is contracted, and it is two different things.
“Rivaldo’s issue is straight forward, he didn’t report to work like any other, then you go to DC. DC has their own findings, you accept, you had obviously the right to object, which in this case Rivaldo has accepted not objected and he is back to training.
“Whether between him, his manager and the boss made other arrangements, that’s one thing. But, with him and the coach, it is whether they have decided to elevate him (Coetzee) to fitness, the outside influence on whether he is in or not, is gone now. He is back to training like any other player,” Mekuto concluded.
