Ajax Cape Town Goalkeeper On Ikapa Derby: They Are Going To Come At Us
Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper, Brandon Petersen, is expecting a tough encounter against Cape Town City but admits that Saturday will be like a normal league game.
The Urban Warriors will host their Mother City rivals at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, September 30, in the first Cape Town derby of the 2017/18 Absa Premiership campaign.
Last season, City claimed all the bragging rights over their neighbours, after defeating Ajax in both home and away encounters.
Speaking to the media, Petersen admitted that the game won’t be an easy one, but his Ajax side is looking forward to locking horns with their city rivals.
“Obviously we know the importance of the game and we know that it is going to be a tough game and it’s not going to be easy. They are going to come at us because you know in the past, in the derby it was tough. But, we must realise that it is still a normal league game and the win will mean a lot for us,” the 23-year-old said.
“The vibe has been good this week because obviously, you know, games like this, you don’t need motivation, the match itself motivates you. Intensity at training was very high this week, I think the guys are looking forward to the derby.”
“Obviously, our faithful. I know that sometimes we give them a hard time and sometimes we don’t perform like they expect us to perform but through that they have been standing by us all these seasons in our ups and downs and firstly I want to thank them for always being there for us and tell them to come out in their numbers and bring their friends and family with to fill up the stadium,” he added.
