Ajax Cape Town's long-serving defender, Nazeer Allie, will not be leaving the Ikamva-based club as was previously thought.
The Bonteheuwel-born defender was linked to Wits as previously reported by the Siya crew, however, the move didn’t materialise as the player was injured.
It was previously reported that the player’s medical status made it impossible for him to go to Braamfontein.
Allie joined the Urban Warriors in 2005, and has been a key player for the club until last season when he sustained a long-term injury which forced him to the sidelines for six months.
The 29-year-old started 13 league games plus one cup game for the club this past season.
Speaking to the crew, the club’s Executive Director, Ari Efstathiou, revealed that the player is going nowhere.
“Nazeer Allie is going nowhere, he’s staying with the club. He’s one of the longest serving players in our squad and we’re keeping him. He still has a contract, he has a season to go before his contract expires with Ajax Cape Town. Yes there was speculation that he could join Wits, but I can confirm that he’s not going anywhere,” said Efstathiou.
The crew will monitor the player’s situation and keep you informed.
