The Siya crew can confirm that Ajax Cape Town young defender, Abbubaker Mobara, is not for sale.
Word doing the rounds is that the Mitchell’s Plein defender is wanted by a number of clubs in the PSL although the club insists that he’s not going anywhere.
Wits and Kaizer Chiefs were the two clubs running for the 20-year old defender. Mobara is in his first season with the Urban Warriors senior team though he joined as a junior in 2012 and has done fairly well.
He played 21 league games and came off the bench once while playing two cup games this past season.
Speaking to the crew, the club’s executive director, Ari Efstathiou, said the player will remain at Ikamva.
“Mobara is our player and he’s going nowhere. We hear there’s speculation that some of the clubs are chasing his signature but he’s not for sale and we’re not interested in offers for him,” said Efstathiou.
The player was recently voted as the club’s Young Player of the Year at the club’s end-of-season awards while being nominated for the PSL Young Player of the Season.
In other news at the club, the director revealed that they’re still searching for sponsor following the departure of MTN which was announced in January this year.
