Ajax Cape Town coach, Roger De Sa, has expressed his happiness after the Urban Warriors U19 team trained with ex-Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.
The youth side is currently on tour in Europe and yesterday morning they trained with the experienced shot stopper.
The former Ajax, Juventus and Fulham keeper took both Jody February and Petersen through their paces.
De Sa, believes that Brandon Petersen, his second choice keeper deputising for Anssi Jaakkola will benefit from the tour.
“All the U19’s are in Holland as we speak and they will all benefit from the tour. I didn’t know they trained with van der Sar and that’s fantastic for him and Jody. That’s fantastic for both the keepers and I believe the trip will definitely help to build them into great professionals. I think the trip will benefit them, giving them exposure. They go every year and they’ll come developed and different players.
“I don’t doubt Petersen’s ability you know. He’s a great young keeper and I see a future Bafana Bafana keeper in him. He has shown that he’s a great goalkeeper and I will use him. It’s great for us as a club to have greatest keepers you know. He’s got a bright future and I see him as the country’s number one. His attitude and work-rate is unbelievable,” added the former Bafana keeper.
