Ajax Cape Town coach, Roger De Sa, sees Brazil as winners tonight as the 20TH FIFA World Cup gets underway tonight.
The hosts will open Group A’s matches against Croatia and the former Bafana Bafana skipper predicts a win for Selecao but he said there’s no strong or weak team in modern football.
“Obviously there’s a lot expected about Brazil as they’re a host nation and looking at their opponents. There’s no team which is a closed book these days and yeah the host nation are favourites as everybody expects. I hope they’ll come out as winners only if they score an early goal. The longer the game goes on with no goal, the more the Brazilians get frustrated.
“There’s no weak team any longer and I can’t predict too many scores. I foresee a tight encounter but Brazil should come out tops. Talking about African teams, I feel the teams have a fair chance you know. I believe Nigeria and Ivory Coast are strong possibilities to progress further in the tournament. Ghana are in a tougher group with Portugal and Germany. I really feel if an African team can do well it’s now. South America might be the right continent for them to do so. I hope and wish to see an African team reaching the semi-finals this time around,” added De Sa.
The game gets underway at 22:00 South African time and all the action will happen at Arena Corinthians Sao Paulo.
