Ajax Cape Town have confirmed the signing of Lebohang ‘Cheeseboy’ Mokoena, as Coach Roger de Sa bolster’s his squad for the 2016/17 season.
The 29-year-old parted ways with Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of last season after the Chloorkop-based outfit opted against extending his stay.
Soccer Laduma subsequently broke the news that Chiefs were keen on assessing the winger, whereafter he surfaced in the Eastern Cape, where he joins Ajax on their pre-season camp.
Having impressed on trial with the club, the Ajax management confirmed that they were in negotiations with the player’s camp.
On Tuesday the crew reported that the Urban Warriors were closing in on the former Orlando Pirates man, with the club having now confirmed the deal.
“Just a day after securing the signature of Mark Mayambela, Ajax Cape Town are delighted to announce the signing of Lebohang “Cheeseboy” Mokoena on a two (2) year deal,” read on the club’s official website.
Cheeseboy is expected to available for selection when the team host Pirates at the Cape Town Stadium on September 13, where he will want to impress his former employees, given the opportunity.
