Ajax Cape Town have made enquiries about Polokwane City striker, Thobani Mncwango.
Mncwango joined Rise and Shine at the beginning of last season from Baroka FC, together with Sifiso Mbhele. The crew is informed that the Urban Warriors are after the player although he’s still contracted to City.
Thobani has a year left to run on his current contract after he signed a two-year contract on his arrival. A source close to the player revealed that the Ikamva-based outfit made enquiries about the 26-year-old forward.
“I was with the player when an official from Ajax called the boy. They’re keen in landing the player’s signature, but it’s not going to be easy as he has a year left on his contract at City. He signed for two years when he arrived at City. I believe he’s keen to leave and try a new environment, but I doubt that City will let him go,” said the source.
The crew put up a call to the Urban Warriors scouting department, who denied that they have contacted the Nongoma-born player.
Head coach, Roger De Sa, also denied the news adding that he’s not aware of that.
“I don’t know about the contact. Who’s the player and what position does he play? No, seriously I don’t know about him,” said De Sa.
Mncwango made 10 appearances in all competitions for the club, and scored two goals in the last campaign.
