A local football agent who represents one of the PSL awards nominees is excited about the player’s progress this season.
Earlier in the week, the Premier Soccer League announced the nominees for the annual end of season awards, and among those nominated is Chippa United winger Maloisane Mokhele who has been impressive this season, despite the Eastern Cape team’s disappointing DStv Premiership campaign.
Mokhele helped the Chilli Boys to reach final of the Nedbank Cup, and for his contribution, he has been nominated for the Most Promising Player of the Tournament along with Kaizer Chiefs’ Njabulo Blom and Khanyisa Mayo from second tier club Richards Bay.
“Look, I’m not surprised that he has been nominated for that award because the boy has been impressive and has done well for himself and for his club Chippa United despite their position on the log. He is a very good player and there is a lot to come from him. I am very proud of the boy for achieving what he has achieved in his first season in the topflight. He is still young and is only 24 years old. We are aiming for improvement for the boy next season and that is what I will be encouraging him to do,” Mokhele’s agent Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi told the Siya crew.
“I would like to thank Chippa United chairman Siviwe Mpengesi for taking a risk in the boy when he was an unknown and gave him a chance to play for his team. I would also like to thank coach Lehlohonolo Seema for recommending that the boy be signed by Chippa at the beginning of the season. He was the one who opened the doors for the boy and made sure that he got the opportunity in the topflight after he had been training with Bloemfontein Celtic for the whole season without a playing for the first team. He was playing for the reserve team there. Watch out for the boy, he will be fighting for the Player of the Season award next season,” added the representative.
