Warriors Sign Motaung
African Warriors, who open their National First Division 2014/15 season on Friday evening against Milano United, have signed nine new players, including former Free State Stars’ juggling midfielder, Thamane Motaung, while the majority are mostly third-tier amateurs.
Motaung made his PSL debut in 2008/09 but never reached his full potential due to disciplinary problems, which saw the talented player offloaded to Carara Kicks. He joined Warriors from Bakubung BK United FC.
After the loss of Vincent Pule, the club has beefed up their left side with two wingers, Nduduzi Sibiya (Mgungundlovu Academy, Maritzburg) and Mzwakhe Sithebe (promoted from their development side, Mayihlome) plus a left back, Lerato Mofokeng (Galaxy FC).
The club’s administration manager, Tsholedi Moloi, confirmed the acquisitions.
“Mofokeng was previously on our books a few seasons ago,” he told Soccer Laduma. “We have also added goalkeeper, Jerry Matsonyonyo (Mangaung United), attacking midfielder, Tumelo Mosebo (Hunters FC), right winger, Deon Venter (Joberton Blazzers, Klerksdorp) and a central midfielder, Nyaniso Ralethohlane (Mainstay United, Upington).”
Furthermore, Warriors have signed an Ivorian striker, Yves Krizoa, but former Platinum Stars, Mamelodi Sundowns and Moroka Swallows midfielder, Tshepo Ramokala, did not make the cut after trails.
“Our coach, David Vilakazi felt Ramokala was not good enough,” he concluded.
