News reaching the Siya crew is that Mpumalanga Black Aces are aiming to register goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro as a local player.
“If Murambadoro doesn’t succeed this time, he will reapply in December. But the club is hoping that he will indeed get the permit that will allow him to play as a local,” one of the sources told the Siya crew.
The 31-year-old Zimbabwean goalkeeper joined Aces recently as a free agent after training with AmaZayoni for some time, but he cannot be registered with the PSL because AmaZayoni have already filled their foreign quota.
Aces currently have Eduardo Ferreira, Method Mwanjali, Ofentse Nato, Onyekachi Okonkwo and Tendai Ndoro registered as foreigners and, as a result, Murambadoro hasn’t been registered with the PSL.
Murambadoro first came to South Africa in 2003 to play for the now defunct Hellenic, but left for Israel the following year to play for Bnei Sakhnin. He then returned to Zimbabwe in 2005 where he spent a year with Caps United before he was snatched by Benoni United, but he returned to Caps after only one season.
He came back to SA in 2008 to play for Wits, where he spent four seasons before being released at the end of last season.
