In the final fixture of the 2012/13 Premier League Promotion/Relegation Play-Offs, Mpumalanga Black Aces entertain Santos in Middleburg on Saturday afternoon where pride is the only matter at stake.
AmaZayoni, by virtue of two wins and a draw, have already secured their spot in the PSL for next season and are expected to field a weakened side against The People’s Team - which are doomed to another campaign in the NFD after failing to find form.
“Aces are honouring the game,” media liaison Gordon Masondo told Soccer-Laduma. “As a club we are going to be serious about it by demonstrating our thanks to the fans, mayor and municipality, but some of the boys that were not regulars in the first team line-up will be playing. The rest, including those injured, have already been given a week’s holiday.”
Two new faces in the midfield, Reginald Mlabe and Roger Makume, will be using this opportunity to impress coach Jacob Sakala.
“I have to be at my best on Saturday,” said Makume. “My contract expires on Sunday and on Monday I’ll be meeting the coach to see if I’m in his plans for next season."
