Mpumalanga Black Aces Media Liaison Officer, Gordon Masondo, has dismissed reports that the club is dragging its feet in their contract negotiations with midfielder, Clifford Ngobeni.
This comes after Ngobeni’s agent, Rob Moore, was quoted in a weekly newspaper that Aces’ lack of urgency to tie down the 26-year-old midfielder was because they might be assessing other options.
“The reason why we decided to open up talks with Clifford was because we wanted to assure him of our intentions to keep him, so it’s unfortunate that Rob had to say what he said.”
“The only reason why we haven’t concluded our negotiations with him is because, we are focusing on making sure that club maintain its top four finish. We’ll conclude the negotiations as soon as the season is over, and that goes with all the other players, including the loan players,” added Masondo.
Ngobeni has made 13 starts and eight substitute appearances for Aces so far this season, and has two goals under his name.
