Ace Ncobo: Football Is Not About One Person
Ace Ncobo labels SAFA congress as fraudulent
Saturday’s South African Football Association National Executive Committee electoral congress continued to be marred by controversy when Ace Ncobo walked out of the Congress during the proceedings.
According to Ncobo, who walked out and labelled the entire congress as fraudulent, he stated that there are great men and women within SAFA’s structures.
“Let them continue with their congress because again football is not about one person, it’s not only about the presidency,” said Ncobo.
“I have constantly said there are great men and women inside the SAFA council. Even on this list, there are great men and women that I can serve with any day so I can’t imagine that there is no leadership at SAFA just because I’ve pulled out of the presidential race.
“The constitution is clear; that the previous committee stays until a new committee is elected. That is why I kept asking why were they in such a rush to hold this congress as if they were being rushed out of office when they could have just organised this congress properly,” added Ncobo.
Following the Saturday’s congress, Dr Danny Jordaan was elected for a second five-year term as SAFA President.
