Mumuni Abubakar’s agent, Ralph Nkomo, has confirmed that a possible move to Belgian club Cercle Brugge is on the cards for the player.
Abubakar had a frustrating season with Mamelodi Sundowns due to a lack of game time, with the 19-year-old having signed for the Brazilians from New Edubiase United in the Ghana Premier League.
“The team in Belgium wanted him way before he came to Sundowns. But at that time we felt that he needed to settle down in South Africa to get experience. But obviously with the previous coach (Johan Neeskens) he didn’t get a chance.
“When Pitso (Mosimane) joined the team he wouldn’t have time to look at the fringe players because of the situation at the time,” said Nkomo.
Abubakar’s countryman, Emmanuel Baffour, has also been linked with a move away from Sundowns. Baffour, who joined Sundowns alongside bubakar, has made one league start during his time with the team.
