Orlando Pirates' Absa Premiership title bid took another dent as they suffered defeat at the hands of SuperSport United.
Wayne Sandilands kept his spot in goals ahead of Jackson Mabokgwane, while Abbubaker Mobara came into the right-back spot, with Asavela Mbekile making way.
Sandilands impressed in Pirates' CAF Champions League encounter last week, and he came to his side's rescue as early as the 11th minute to deny Evans Rusike from 12-yards following a swift counter-attack.
SuperSport continued their onslaught on the Pirates goal after 27 minutes as Clayton Daniels went close with a towering header that drew a fine another fine save from Sandilands.
The Buccaneers, meanwhile, have not been convincing in front of goal in recent matches, and that trend continued in the first half as they failed to mount any serious openings at Ronwen Willliams' goal.
The likes of Justin Shonga, Thembinkosi Lorch and Vincent Pule were virtually non-existent in the first half, having had no effect in the final third.
SuperSport's persistance eventually broke just after the hour mark when Daniels, who threatened in the first half, sent a powerful header past a helpless Sandilands.
The Buccaneers responded by throwing on Luvuyo Memela for Mobara as they went in search of an equaliser, which they nearly found on 70 minutes when Lorch was brilliantly denied by Williams.
Eight minutes later, Pirates were awarded a penalty when Rusike handled in the box. Happy Jele took responsibility this time, but the skipper's spot-kick was saved by Williams.
Mpho Makola was introduced in the final ten minutes with the hope of securing an equaliser, however Kaitano Tembo's troops remained resolute and hung on to claim three points.
