SuperSport assistant coach Kaitano Tembo was put in charge for the rest of the season after head coach Eric Tinkler had resigned.

Matsatsantsa were adventurous going forward in the first 10 minutes of the match but they could not create clear-cut opportunities.

Thuso Phala had the first real chance for Tembo’s charges in the 18th minute after being sent through down the left side of the box but his low strike was saved by goalkeeper Richard Ofori.

Evans Rusike almost netted for the Tshwane giants against his former team a minute later with a snapshot that skimmed the top of the crossbar.

Fadlu Davids’ troops, meanwhile,  only started to get out of their half after 35 minutes, launching their own attacks up front.

On the stroke of half-time, Mohau Mokate almost broke the deadlock for Davids’ men with a header at the near post that came off the underside of the crossbar.

Aubrey Modiba could have found the breakthrough for Matsatsantsa 10 minutes into the second stanza but Ofori made a great stop to keep the scores level.

Teboho Mokoena cracked a goal-bound shot from range for Tembo’s men on the hour-mark but was denied by Ofori, who was once again on hand to make the save.

The home side were resorting to long-range strikes with 15 minutes left to play although they struggled to find the target with their attempts.

In the end, both sides settled for a share of the spoils which does not help SuperSport's hopes of clinching a top-eight spot.
