Date: 04 April 2018
Venue: Old Peter Mokaba Stadium
SuperSport United's struggles in the Absa Premiership continued after they lost 1-0 to Polokwane City on Wednesday evening.
Matsatsantsa headed into the match on the back of a goalless draw with Maritzburg United and were looking to hit the ground running.
They had a couple glimpses at goal in the opening 17 minutes, with Jamie Webber and Thuso Phala going close for the hosts.
Chances were hard to come by for both sides in the first half, though, despite the attacking talents on display on the night.
However, with five minutes remaining in the half, Rise and Shine took the lead through Rodney Ramagalela to pile more misery on the hosts.
It got worse for SuperSport shortly after the break when defender Morgan Gould was shown a red card.
Depsite being a man down, SuperSport continued to push for an equaliser to improve their situation in the standings.
Evans Rusike went close to snatching an equaliser with four minutes remaining, but George Chigova pulled off a fine save to deny the striker.
Chigova ensured Polokwane walked away with three points as he produced a save, this time denying Webber as the visitors held on for the win.
