Polokwane City claimed their first Absa Premiership win of the year after recording a 1-0 win over Platinum Stars at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Sars carved out the first chance of the match in the 15th minute as Robert N'gambi came close to opening the scoring with a shot from just outside the box.
Thapelo Tshilo eventually opened the scoring for the Rise and Shine after 27 minutes, as the defender rifled home a superb volley from 12-yards out.
Ndumiso Mabena came close to leveling matters in the 41st minute with a snap shot after being allowed space to turn inside the box, but he missed narrowly wide.
The match went into the interval with Rise and Shine leading by 1-0.
Stars started the second-half where they finished the first, setting up the tempo of the match while looking for the equaliser.
In the 65th minute Vuyo Mere had a bursting run on the right wing before finding Mabena with a well floated cross, but the striker did not connect well with the ball inside the box.
Rise and Shine were playing too deep allowing Stars the space to make the attacks.
Jabulani Maluleke nearly made it 2-0 from a direct free-kick in the 72nd minute but Stars goalkeeper, Mbongeni Mzimela did well to keep out the effort.
Cavin Johnson's charges pushed for an equalising goal in the closing stages, but were unable to bypass the Polokwane defence, as the score remained 1-0 to the home side.
