Dikwena Edge Polokwane To Ease Relegation Woes
Result: Polokwane City 0-1 Platinum Stars
Date: 06 December 2017
Venue: Old Peter Mokaba Stadium
Platinum Stars claimed a much needed win as they defeated Polokwane City 1-0, at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Rise and Shine looked lively in the opening stages as Jabu Maluleka forced Dino Visser into a fine save after 13 minutes.
Both sides showed attacking intent to get the opening goal, but they were let down by their sloppy passing in the middle of the park.
Unfortunately, that proved to be the trend for the rest of the half as neither club managed to create another clear-cut opening.
Three minutes into the second half, Dikwena found the opening goal courtesy of a strike from Bongi Ntuli.
Roger De Sa's men were comfortable in possession of the ball as the half went on, although chances were hard to come by.
Polokwane, meanwhile, struggled to maintain any serious periods of possession, which led to a lack of chances in the final third.
Nevertheless, Dikwena managed to hold on to claim only their second league win of the season.
Here's how they lined up:
Polokwane: 1. Chigova, 2. Semenya, 24. Hlongwane, 4. Tshilo, 5. Maponyane, 21. Seabi, 10. Tlolane, 8. J. Maluleke (Musona 64'), 17. Ramagalela, 35. Ndou, W. Maluleke.
