Absa Premiership Report: Polokwane City v Golden Arrows, 04 March 2018
Full Time: Polokwane City 2-2 Golden Arrows
Date: 04 March 2018
Venue: Old Peter Mokaba Stadium
Polokwane City scored in the dying seconds of the game to draw 2-2 with Golden Arrows in an Absa Premiership match at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The home side started the better of the two, with the first effort on goal a long-range effort from Lerato Lamola in the seventh minute, but his effort skimmed the wrong side of the crossbar.
Six minutes later, Polokwane had shot on goal from distance courtesy of Jabu Maluleke, but his effort went inches wide of the woodwork.
The next player to try his luck was Arrows’ Siphelele Magubane, but his radar was also off with his 30-yard shot flying over the target in the 22nd minute.
The home side finished the strong of the two teams with Rodney Ramagalela finding some space on the edge of the box, but his powerful shot was brilliantly saved by Maximilian Mbaeva.
The half ended 0-0.
Five minutes into the second half Arrows took the lead after a swift counter-attack saw Velemseni Ndwandwe play Lerato Lamola through on goal and he made no mistake with just the keeper to beat, 1-0.
Polokwane hit back on the hour mark when substitute Walter Musona broke behind the defence and clinical beat an onrushing Maximilian Mbaeva to make it 1-1.
The home side’s joy, though, was short-lived with Arrows retaking the lead four minutes later thanks to long-range effort from Siphelele Magubane which curled around the keeper, 2-1.
Arrows nearly sealed victory in the 85th minute when Knox Mutizwa met a cross from Wayde Jooste, but his diving header went narrowly wide of the target.
Polokwane threw players forward in the final minutes of the match and managed to find an equaliser thanks to a spectacular long-range effort from Puleng Tlolane which found the corner of the net in the 94th minute, 2-2.
