The visitors enjoyed most of the possession in the first half, but clear-cut chances were hard to come by.

Stars nearly hit back before the break but Harris Tchilimbou's header was saved by Polokwane shot-stopper George Chigova as the hosts went into the break leading.

Booi looked to bag his and Polokwane's second goal 10 minutes into the second half, but the forward pulled his low strike wide of the upright from close range.

The visitors pushed for an equaliser and they could have got one in the 77th minute, but Judas Moseamedi blazed high and wide as time began to run out.

Unfortunately for Stars, they were unable to find a way past the City defence as the score remained 1-0 to the hosts.
