Nkoana, on loan from Supersport United, scored an early goal finding the opener with his right foot just a minute into the match, from an assist provided by Travis Graham.
After scoring the opening goal, Ajax grew in confidence and managed to create more goal scoring chances. The home team also had their fair chances to get back into the game.
However Ajax goalkeeper, Anssi Jaakkola, and his defence, stood firm to stop the likes of Essau Kanyenda and Jabu Maluleke from levelling matters.
Ajax then snatched the second goal four minutes before the half-time break. Tashreeq Morris increased City’s woes in the 41st minute, slotting the second goal past City’s goalkeeper, Dino Visser, to send his team into the break enjoying a comfortable lead.
The second half started at a very slow pace, as both teams failed to produce clear goal scoring chances, which led to the home side trailing by two goals making a change. City introduced Roger Majara for Thobani Mncwango.
City made another change with 15 minutes to go, bringing in Rendani Ndou for Kabelo Lichaba, while Ajax took off Keagan Dolly who was replaced by youngster Olwethu Nguye,
Polokwane City managed to get a consolation goal from Abbubaker Mobara’s own goal towards the end of the match.
Despite the own goal, Ajax held on for their second successive win, following last week Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Mamelodi Sundowns, as Roger De Sa ‘s side remain unbeaten after three matches.
