Boring Stalemate In Polokwane

Absa Premiership

Full Time: Polokwane City 0-0 Moroka Swallows

Date: 6 May 2014

Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium

Polokwane City and Moroka Swallows played to a dull 0-0 draw in their penultimate Absa Premiership match of the season at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday night.

The result means Polokwane are still not sure of their Absa Premiership status for next season, as they could still be sucked into the promotion/relegation playoff spot currently occupied by Free State Stars, who are two points behind.

Swallows are only one place better off than Polokwane in 13th place with 31 points.

The opening 45 minutes was a rather dreary affair with very few significant chances on goal.

The play from both sides was poor and they looked like two teams in the bottom half of the table.

Due to some woeful passing neither side were able to hold onto the ball long enough to create a sustained period of pressure.

The closest we came to seeing a goal in the first half arrived in the 23rd minute and went the way of Polokwane when Thapelo Tshilo met a corner-kick from Puleng Tlolane wide of the target.

Neither side was able to create another significant chance in front of goal as the half ended 0-0.

The second half was not much better and also only produce one significant piece of action in the 65th minute when Swallows defender Luvhengo Mungomeni shot wide of the target from a Left Tsutsulupa free-kick.

It was a terrible display from both sides and point a piece was more than either deserved.
