SuperSport Held By Relegation-Threatened Dikwena
Absa Premiership Report: Platinum Stars v SuperSport United 20 February 2018
Result: Platinum Stars 0-0 SuperSport United
Date: 20 February 2018
Venue: Royal Bafokeng Stadium
SuperSport United's stuttering Absa Premiership campaign continued after they were held to a 0-0 draw by relegation-threatened Platinum Stars.
Dikwena remain rooted at the bottom of the standings with 17 points from 21 matches.
Clayton Daniels nearly opened the scoring for the visitors in the seventh minute but Dino Visser pulled off a fine low save to keep out the defender's header.
Three minutes later, Vuyo Mere thought he had found the opener Stars with a low shot into the back of the net but he was flagged offside.
Reyaad Pieterse denied Letsie Koapeng on the half-hour mark with a stupendous low save for a strike that was destined for the bottom corner.
The two sides could not really find rhythm throughout the first stanza and they went into the break goalless.
In the 55th minute, Charles Baloyi should have broken the deadlock for Stars after finding space inside the box, but his left-footed strike went wide of the mark.
Matsatsantsa were building momentum heading into the 70th minute, but they were let down by their decision-making in the final third.
Onismor Bhasera almost found the breakthrough 12 minutes before time with a threatening strike from the left side of the box but his effort swerved away from the goals.
That proved to be the final chance of the stanza as the sides settled for a share of the spoils.
