Absa Premiership
Result: Platinum Stars 1-0 Bidvest Wits
Date: 12 May 2018
Venue: Royal Bafokeng Stadium
Relegated Platinum Stars ended the Absa Premiership season with three points as they denied ousted champions Bidvest Wits a top-eight finish with a 1-0 win at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
The game got off to a slow start as both sides struggled to carve out chances in the opening 15 minutes.
However, Dikwena broke the deadlock on 20 minutes thanks to a strike from Bongi Ntuli.
The Students looked to hit back and should have leveled matters in the 39th minute as Vincent Pule picked out Majoro, who headed over the crossbar.
The visitors were dealt a blow before the break as Pule was forced off with an injury, being replaced by Elias Pelembe.
Gavin Hunt's men started to second half positively but they still found it tough to carve out clear-cut chances.
Gabadinho Mhango managed to force an opening for the visitors in the 79th minute but he skewed his effort wide of Dino Visser's upright.
The visitors threw numbers forward in search of an equaliser in the closing stages but Roger de Sa's men held on for three points.

Wits should have been relegated to the lower league. They over celebrated last seasons truimpth and resorted to complacency. Small team mentality
