Baroka Claim First Win Of The Season

Absa Premiership
Result: Platinum Stars 0-1 Baroka FC
Date: 24 September 2016
Venue: Royal Bafokeng Stadium
Baroka FC claimed their first win of the Absa Premiership campaign, as they defeated Platinum Stars 1-0 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
In scorching heat at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, the two teams seemed to be struggling to develop a good tempo into the game.
There were chances for both sides but poor finishing was to blame for a 0-0 score-line up to the 38th minute.
Mbongeni Mzimela's rash challenge on Richard Matloga inside the box was penalised to have been a bookable offence and thereby a penalty. Ndivivhawo Ravhulali stepped up for Baroka and fired his spot-kick past Mazimela from 12 yards, 1-0.
Dikwena would have been disappointed to go into the half-time break one goal down.
The second half saw Baroka dominating possession stakes, while Dikwena were not precise in their passing and Baroka looked a better side in this respect.
There was lack of quality in the final third for Platinum Stars as they struggled to get a shot on target.
Baroka held a good shape defensively and denied Stars space to penetrate, while Dikwena looked frustrated and capitulated.
In the end, Baroka held on for their first win of the season and deserved the three points after showing more desire to win.
The victory moves Baroka up to 11th spot, while Cavin Johnsons charges drop to eighth.
Here's how they lined up:
Platinum Stars: Mzimela, Mnguni, Nhlapo, Sithole, Tshabalala, De Jongh, Mere, Mathe, Msomi, Botes, Kunene.
Baroka FC: Masuluke, Ravhahali, Zikalala, Shaku, Dube, Mothupa, Motshegwa, Chauke, Lietsisa, Mahashe, Matloga.
