Result: Platinum Stars 3-0 Ajax Cape Town
Date: 13 March 2016
Venue: Royal Bafokeng Stadium
Platinum Stars proved too strong for Ajax Cape Town, as they romped to a 3-0 victory at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts enjoyed a bright start to the clash as they managed to get some nice touches in the opening exchanges before Bongi Ntuli forced a great parried save from Anssi Jaakkola in the 10th minute.
Platinum Stars continued to look threatening, and Ndumiso Mabena should have done better with his 24th minute effort. Ten minutes later it was Ntuli who tested Jaakkola but the Ajax shot-stopper safely held on.
The Dikwena attacker made sure that his next attempt rattled the net as he put his team 1-0 ahead in the 36th minute. The goal seemed to spark the Ajax attacks and Tashreeq Morris forced a lovely save from Mbongeni Mzimela only two minutes later to keep his side in the lead at the break.
Dikwena continued to dominate play even after the restart, and Bongi Ntuli almost added another in the 52nd minute, but the attacker striked the woodwork, much to the relief of the away players. Vuyo took matters into his own hands as he converted a chance in the 62nd minute to extend Platinum Stars' lead to 2-0.
The Urban Warriors tried to pull off a come-back by adding numbers into their attacks, but it seemed to open them up even more as Ntuli completed his brace with an 84th-minute effort to also seal the 3-0 victory.
