The loss was the second for the Free State team under new Belgium coach, Tom Saintfiet.

The Bethlehem-based side suffered  a 1-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs in their opening fixture on Saturday, and tonight lost to Dikwena in a match played at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.

Ea Lla Koto got off to a flying start and scored an early goal in the fifth minute of the match.

Angelo Kerspuy found the back of the net with a right footed effort, after Dikwena failed to properly deal with a corner kick.

Both teams had their fair share of ball possession, however the match was disturbed by flying tackles which resulted in numerous free kicks.

It did not comes as a surprise when  Ea Lla Koto’s goal scorer, Kerspuy turned from hero to villain as he was shown a red for a second bookable offence, after committing two successive silly fouls.

A few minutes later, former Orlando Pirates striker, Ndumiso Mabena, showed his hunger in front of goals, as he scored the equalising goal in the 26th minute.

The match headed to the half-time break with the two teams tied at one-all.

Dikwena started the second half the better side and could have increased the lead shortly after the re-start with Mabena heading Vuyo Mere’s cross over the bar.

Allan Freese’s side continued to create more chances, having the one man advantage over the visitors.

Dikwena who suffered a shock 0-2 loss to PSL rookies Chippa United in their opening match, showed their hunger to win the tie against Ea Lla Koto, as Mabena added his second of the night in the 53rd minute, heading the ball into the back of the net from a corner kick.

The Free State outfit brought their top goal scorer last season Richard Henyekane on for Thabo Moloi, as they searched for the equalising goal to avoid their second defeat in a space of four days, but he couldn't find the equaliser.

Here’s how they started:

Platinum Stars: Mpontshane, Mere, Gumede, Semenya, Mpeta, Madubanya, Mathe, Ng'ambi, Nyanda, Tshabalala, Mabena

Free State Stars: Mtshali, Angula, Moloi, Mkhwanazi, Sankara, Thlone, Kerspruy, Masehe, Mashego, Sekola, Abraw
