Evans Rusike bagged a brace to lead Maritzburg United to a 2-0 win over Ajax Cape Town at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
Maritzburg enjoyed most of the possession in the early parts of the encounter, although chances were hard to come by.
The Urban Warriors, on the other hand, were dealt a blow 15 minutes into the half when Siyabonga Nhlapo was forced off with an injury. He was replaced by debutant, Junaid Sait.
The hosts eventually broke the deadlock with their first real opening on 30 minutes as Evans Rusike headed home Bandile Shandu's pin-point cross, 1-0.
Rusike continued to threaten in the final stages of the half and he nearly got a second goal just before the break but Brandon Petersen produced a superb save to the Zimbabwean.
Ajax, meanwhile, went into the halftime break trailing as they barely threatened Bongani Mpandle's goal.
The Urban Warriors came out attacking in the second half and they had the ball in the net after 55 minutes but Tashreeq Morris' strike was ruled for a foul on Mpandle.
However, Maritzburg were not to be denied after 68 minutes as Rusike bagged his second of the game with a composed finish form close range.
Stanley Menzo responded introducing striker Prince Nxumalo for the final 20 minutes as they looked for a way back into the clash.
However, the Team of Choice managed to see out the closing stages of the second half to claim their second successive league win.
