Sundowns controlled the game from the onset and made their intentions clear early on, as the likes of Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro threatened on a few occasions.

The Brazilians had the first chance in the 29th minute when Keagan Dolly forced Modiba into a fine save from 12-yards out, after some good work by Billiat.

However, Sundowns broke the deadlock a minute later, as Billiat picked out Castro, who brilliantly side-footed home from a tight angle, 1-0.

The home side added to their advantage in the 34th minute, as Billiat latched onto a fine long ball from Hlompho Kekana, before calmly slotting under Modiba.

Cosmos were no match for the Absa Premiership leaders and were second best in every department. While, they headed into the break without testing Sundowns goalkeeper, Wayne Sandilands.

The visitors saw a bit more of the ball at the start of the second half, but it was Sundowns who went close in the 56th minute as Castro's close range effort forced Modiba into a stunning save.

Sundowns continued to push for more goals and were nearly rewarded in the 67th minute but Ramahlwe Mphahlele's header was cleared off the line by Mthembu.

Pitso Mosimane opted to re-shuffle the pack for the final 20 minutes and introduced Tiyani Mabunda and Siyanda Zwane.

Sundowns were quite content with the two-goal lead and passed the ball around in the closing stages, as they secured a comfortable victory.
